5 Cybersecurity Best Practices Every Business Should Follow
Site Admin · July 5, 2026

Most breaches don't start with a sophisticated zero-day exploit — they start with a reused password, an unpatched server, or an employee clicking the wrong link. Here are five practices that close the gaps attackers actually use.
1. Enforce multi-factor authentication everywhere
Email, admin panels, cloud consoles — anywhere a password alone can grant access. MFA remains one of the highest-return security investments available.
2. Patch on a schedule, not when you remember
Unpatched software is the single most common entry point in breaches we've seen. A monthly patch window, tracked and enforced, closes most of this exposure.
3. Limit access by role
Not everyone needs admin access to everything. Scope permissions to what each role actually requires, and review them quarterly.
4. Back up data — and test the restore
A backup you've never restored from is a hope, not a plan. Test your recovery process before you need it under pressure.
5. Train people, not just systems
Phishing simulations and short, regular security briefings do more to prevent incidents than most technical controls alone.
None of this requires an enterprise budget — just consistency. If you'd like a security review of your current setup, get in touch.
